A Lost Message

A Lost Message

A Poem by Icey

A story told by the man of old,

About the message left by the ancients.

From the innocent witnesses of the incident

Basking in her glory as she inspects what’s her’s.

Her crow’s nest above flickering over the crew

As they sail into stolen sea’s and to their deaths.

Her hull straining under the pressure of the aggressor

And the august of her masts covered  by man’s ignorance.

Time after time we lose what was once so sublime

All for a chance of glory and a chance to be gain prestige.

So in this siege which we live in

When will we see the beauty of our creations over wealth?

For our greatest ships have drowned in our negligence along with their stories.

But we will never listen to what the wreck speaks till we have no choice as we join it.
