When Love Was Sealed

You lie to me and say I'm in your heart
And will be immortalized forever,
A symbol of love that can't break apart
From the fate that brought us together,
But fate is cruel and ensures that I,
A misfit of the world, am doomed to fall
Into the darkness where my weary eyes
Can never see you again, at all _
And yet I bless this fate, though it is cruel,
Because I know the taste of your kiss
And your embrace that soothed this simple fool
Who, before, knew only loneliness:
Though you are gone, my heart is left fulfilled
By moments of the night when love was sealed.

 

Author's Note

Though lies will break the soul, the memories of the past and the 'sealed' moments will always leave one fulfilled......maybe?
