My Love Is Like a Flame

My love is like a flame that yearns and feeds
Upon the air that is your precious kiss
That nourishes me when 'tis you I need
When in the solitude of emptiness.
My heart is as a wick that needs the flame
Of love and desire that, in me, yearn
For your sweet hand to light this wick, and tame
The passions held within, for you, that burn;
But my soul, a candle, is not complete
Until the flames do melt this wax away;
And I, free to love, can openly speak
What my heart, my love, and my soul must say:
"With restraints gone, let me now prove
With actions, not words, how deep is my love."

Very thick and heavy is love that envelopes the soul.
