Awaiting Death

Awaiting Death

A Poem by IceDragonOfPluto

Bound to the chains of endless agony,
My soul must suffer for eternity
In flames of hell where light dares not abide
And all alone, myself I must confide.
No hopes, no promises of the morrow
Await this man. My infinite sorrow
Is but a glimpse of all that tears apart
My dreams. No longer can my weary heart
Withstand the tortures of this crimson fire
Singeing away my flesh. My desire
For happiness proved a petty dream.
Now swept away on Styx’s mighty streams,
I welcome the ferry to take me home
To Pluto’s realm where I can be alone.
And now with patience I must wait for death
To claim my soul and steal my weary breath.

I just wrote a piece last night of a simular subject matter. This was an enjoyable read for sure. You are at your best when writing of a dark subject such as death.

Great piece, Pluto! I love how you paint the picture of torment and despair hike awaiting death's final blow. I also like the resignation youhow in the last two lines, like someone who has finally accepted fate.
Good job
