Scars (Free-verse)

My life, a sea of bloodstains
Full of torment and lies
Full of lacerated scars
That wreak with infected stench,
The puss blinding my eyes with tears.

My tears are acid drops
Of burning passion
Singeing scars
Along
My cheeks.

My breath is
A crushing pain
Stopping my heart.
I clench my chest
And yet I know
This cutting pain
Will leave another scar.

My eyes are iron gates
Allowing no entrance
Into my hollowed soul.
These weary pools of green
Stare blankly as you smile.

My crimson heart
Is broken
Like a toy and put away
Never mended
Never subjected
To love
To bliss
Only pain and misery.

My pain
My misery
Are never-ending seas
Stretching vast
Beyond imagination's realm

And the scars
Upon my chest
Inside my heart
Remain
Eternally.

Though the wound may heel the scar remains. A reminder of the pain. and though eventually some deal with the pain and it there by goes away, some of us never really get over the scar and that constant reminder of what created it. With it always there, how are we to put pain behind us and grow from it.

Simple! We don't put it behind us. We don't just let it go. We let it run its coarse and learn from it what is there to be learned.

Something can be learned and gained from all of lifes adversities. Pain and suffering need not be the empty gesture of heart ache. Use them to your advantage and reap the rewards my friend.

I really liked the flow of the piece, always had a thing for free verse. But one does still have to know the rules before breaking them.
