Death Is Like Two Lovers SighsA Poem by IceDragonOfPlutoAnd older poem of mine. It is in Iambit Tetrameter, somewhat, it has 7 syllables in each line instead of 8. Similar to Shakespeare's "The Phoenix and the Turtle."Death is like two lovers sighs Moaning in the dark of night While the life slips from their eyes Lost in passionate delight.
With each breath the lovers breathe, And each piece the lovers grieve With each plunge one lover sheathes.
The pounding of each heartbeat Rises and falls with each kiss, Soon fading as inner heat Cools in their triumphant bliss.
Now as they sink into sleep, Holding one another close, Lost in darkness, in too deep, Each lover’s panting breath slows.
Their eyes now shut and dreaming Like corpses under gravestones, For hours they sleep as seeming They are dead and all alone. © 2011 IceDragonOfPlutoReviews
