My skin colour

My skin colour

A Poem by Ibthlhal

Am not sorry for the pigment of my skin
Am not sorry for the race that am in
For I am black and I love what I am
But when did that become an issue

For people to choose who dies
Who decided that a black mans live don't matter
Its inhumane to think we are still stuck in
A century that colour still defines what we are

When did it get to where people put out camera's
To only capture racism without doing anything
Where is the justice for all the blood that is being spilled instead of being protected
Why is there no peace even when the world is bleeding

Children should not be raised to fear their colour
Children should not be raised in a community where justice is a myth
Where black people should hide that they too bleed
But were is the Justice when we need it most black lives matter
