Road Under The Bridge

Road Under The Bridge

A Poem by Inject Positivity

Where does this road go?
Does it go to the other side of the river?
I really wish to know
Standing here on this wooden bridge
I glance over the foot marks
The same ones that crushed the grassy banks
And went into the far away road
On which I have not seen anyone treading for years
Is it the one that has stories of fairies?
Or belong to those who live on the other side of this road?
For all my childhood I have planned,
Planned to walk on that road
But till this day I have not found the courage
To discover the mysteries that are waiting,
Waiting to be revealed by my curious soul

Dhiman,
This poem is alluring. Time is so unseen but so real. Humanity is forever on pathways and we are always crossing bridges. Destinations of life possibilities are so unknown. I found your reference to footmarks...crushed grassy banks..went into the far away road a winsome hint of your desire to do the same. We live in stages, in seasons. But our lives are not words; they are flesh and blood experiences. Memories live and we learn and move forward, pain comes and we process and sit still and then we need to move on....................Blessings to you sir..."Road under the bridge" was a very thought stirring write from you............Kathy

Interesting thoughts. The old road, once much travelled, now forgotten. No doubt there are treasures to be found. Not things of monetary value. Meaningful things.

My pleasure reading...
I really loved this poem Dhiman. It is a beautiful way of describing a bridge in just a plain and simple way and then adds a depth. To me, it discussed crossing those bridges you fear the most: quitting a job, going back to school, furthering a relationship, etc. One of my favorites.

Good job, Dhiman. Very reminiscent of Robert Frost's 'The Road Not taken'. We move along the road of life, not always choosing the right path, but whichever path we choose leads us to where we need to be. Your writing is coming along nicely. Keep at it. Good write

This is an amazing description of a real-life bridge & at the same time a very imaginative analogy about the times in life when we must cross over into another level of our maturity where the lessons feel more challenging. We would love to linger longer on the side of the bridge where it feels less threatening. But in some of our lives, we are forced over the bridge before we're ready. I am so amazed at how your imaginative mind is become released more & more in your writing. This poem feels like flying compared to your earlier poems, where you were stuck in deep mud, not ready to leap into these new areas of thought & imagination! I'm so proud of you for transforming this deeply painful time in your life, as a can-opener to pry into the deeper parts of yourself that you haven't yet shared with anyone. The more you show of your true self, the more beautiful you become to everyone (((HUGS)))

Dhiman, this is stunning. Wow, these lines, in the context of the piece:
For all my childhood I have planned,
Planned to walk on that road
But till this day I have not found the courage

Truly stunning. I might add one more line about what might have have the foot prints, who has been crossing the bridge perhaps something a bit nefarious. But that's just personal taste I think. Well written.
