Only By the Night

Only By the Night

A Poem by Chloe

Only by the night
yes...no, I did steal that line from Poe
although,
I don't know...

It's only by the night
when Mama tucked me in tight
I clung to my bloody horse head
I braided his mane!

It's only by the night
only by my strengthened sight,
I could see the stars
I once wondered how far away they are!
only by the night, I can see my footsteps
imprinted upon them

It's only by the night
when I listened to the nocturnes
of the city
ambulances! police!
I danced, danced to their sirens!

It's only by the night
in which I wake and listen to the music
the reqiuem of my sister wrenching out
ten thousand plastic tears
the dull chant of my sis lighting a cig

It's only by the night
that I could see the fireworks
their explosions, arguments of chemicals

It's only by the night
by last night,
when I walked in my sleep
I drenched all my pistols in gasoline
looked like some magic I've seen!

It's only by the night
I drove solo up to those stars
I got so far away
I wish I could stay
I'm better than my sisters, brothers
the star was so desolate
lonely

It's only by the day
I heard my sister say
"God bless you!"
ha! ha! I sneezed
thankyou!

It's only by the day
I shoved the pill down my tongue
I'm happy now! I swear!
come on,
I'm doing you all a favour!

It's only by the night
when the mail came
I opened the envelope
cough! sneeze!
a new disease!

It's only by the day
we celebrate full-faced smile occasions
hey, who's that fly
in my pink champagne?

It's only by the day
when I feel I can say nay
to gasoline and arsenic
school hallways reak of both chemicals

It's only by the day
I never sang
I'd rather have the empty soul of a drum head

It's only by the day
it's exactly what I had in mind:
the blinded leading the blind
day to day
I see perfectly in the night
tonight the sun will rise!

It's only by the night
when I shielded my eyes from the sun
it's only by the day
when I allowed my mind to leak my mercury
it's only by the night
when the human's body was next to the live vampire,
both in caskets
it's only by the day
that I decide to hide myself away.

I have to admit..There is a really cool feeling to the piece..but I'm not sure what the theme was supposed to be...:( There were parts that made me laugh..and some that made go hmmm?
I'd love to know what it was the piece was about?

I like the stanzas by themselves, but somewhere I think I got lost in the overall meaning. The writing is good however. Kudos.
