The Hunger of the Over-eager Musician

The Hunger of the Over-eager Musician

A Poem by Chloe
"

Music or attention. Which is better?

"

This sonata you may play

allows me to do nothing but hate

this hate of which I have managed to hide

for the amount of time

in which it took you to

finish swollowing the large lump

of food in your throat

You bit off more than you could chew

it has been quivering under your tongue

for all of this time

that is why you never sang

you only played your pathetic little sonata

Your hands overlapped each other,

dancing about the keys

you rocked your body back and forth,

to the rhythm of the music

so that a slight movement of the jaw

could not signal your fanatics

that you haven't yet swolowed

what they fed you

Heavy metal! heavy metal!

the faster the tapping,

the faster the shredding,

the more they focus on those

dancing hands of your's

and the less they see

your throat struggling to

swollow that once last bite

of all of us other musicians

that you caught during that

bruetal food fight.

I know that it's not nearly as good as my other one's. I just had a hard time thinking of something to match the situation with.

I could see the choice that one may have! when it comes to attention verses one's music. Once can spend their whole life creating a musical masterpiece, but end up lonely and friendless. Or the can have many friends while their instrument gathers dust on the shelf. I think that a balance would be needed to truly make the music soar! Talent to play, and friends to adore and stay.
Good words! :)

Spelling problems, but other than that I find it an interesting situation indeed. As a musician myself I can understand this and I too have found "things" hard to swallow sometimes. Great work (minus the spelling). :)

hmmm,,,,there are some spell checks needed -- e.g. swallow -- brutal...i like the images of the last stanza, the dancing hands and the food fight. sins of gluttony and vanity in one shot. nice.
