The One Who Saw MeA Poem by IWatchSilentlyI had no idea what to title it, so I made it that. The red paint inched off the wall As the black tears hardened off my face. The colors swarmed together Until everything was a mess of Blacks and browns. I curled in the corner And shunned my eyes from truth. And even beneath the covers I couldn’t escape the torture. The hurt and pain Still seeped in Through the open cracks. The pain continued To dig deeper Until it reached my very core. Till it destroyed me From the inside out. It ate away at the flesh I once wore. I squeezed my eyes tighter But the pain just came in faster. The blood rushed out of me And spilled onto the floor. As I sat there with my eyes closed, I could feel that blood changing, Blending into the mess of paint. I opened my eyes for a split second, And was amazed at what I saw; Mountains of horrid colors, And seas of poisonous creatures. But behind it all I could see someone. He standed there, just as scared as I was, Searching through the mountains and seas. But something was different about him, He shined resplendently And called my name like he knew who I was. He flashed me a loving, gentle smile. One that seemed to steal my breath out from under me. But none of that compared to the way he looked at me. The way he saw what was beneath The covers, and in-between the cracks. The way he looked and actually saw me. Not some tortured girl Hiding in the corner. And in that split second that I saw him, He almost seemed to make all the pain worth it. © 2010 IWatchSilentlyReviews
