WHAT IS YOUR LOVE?

considering the ways to love and of love

All through life is seen

what one would give

and one would take

and say in name of love

is it the stripping to soul

we are speaking of

or modest giving thrown on robe

that covers the true heart

keeping safe the giver

who gives of just a part

so many kinds of love I've seen

some loyal, true and sure

some love in the way its given

leaves the loved one needing more

childlike love is innocent

wanton love is full of fire

lustful needs so satisfied

in quelling the desire

some find loving easy

but love not so much

abandoning heart in giving all

is sure the loving touch

a loving word a loving smile

loving long or for awhile

lovers loving sharing love

bodies fitting like a glove

love is wonder striking awe

testing, tasting, breaking rules

love can make one confident

or a wise one act the fool

a substantial, building love

will leave both lovers satisfied

and living life to full

why do I question what is love

just take it as I may?

because I've not heard

what you think

not heard just what you'd say

I want to know

you say you love me so

and I ask

love me in what way?

 

Answer:

 

This love this poem sharing

all the want and need and caring

gives to all the everbearing

that seeds the need we are

 

To speak of love that speaks itself

and gives in gifts of all the wealth

and springs aforth in visions rare

and nestles in the softness there

is brought to fore

by all that needs the fearsome gifts

that love proceeds

And in the end, is all that is

and enters livings' reaching breaths.

I often think we're asking the word 'love' to do far too much- a selection of different words might make more sense, but probably make it all less poetic ;)
