Rise

Rise

A Poem by Mystique

Cold, powdered crumbles of all that was before me,
the ashes lie on the hard, stony earth.
Everything I thought was to be, ceases to exist.
Damaged. Broken.
The remains of my life, scorched beyond recognition.
Yet, a small ember remains lit.
It clutches to the remaining oxygen for dear life,
On the verge of death,
Hoping.. Pleading for a change..
A gentle breeze blows through whispering softly
"Rise"
In an instant, more embers catch and glow.
A chance.
The wind once again beckoning, calm and sure,
"Rise"
A flame erupts from what once was dead,
dancing gracefully in the ever growing current of strength.
Once again, it demands the same
"Rise"
And up from the single flame, a Phoenix explodes.
Beautiful, magnificent
Striking fear and awe in the hearts of all who see her.
She is me.
And I rose from the ashes.
