A Poem by I.F.W. Davis
"

Written: 2023

"
I had to wait for 3 hours
to find out you were alive-
I had to work for it, find the drive,
mulling over and over the flicker of signal
that I somehow managed to find,
and when I emerged from the old growth
to return to our world
you had changed it
rearranged the entropic direction
of the universe,
let your wounds fester, nourished them,
gave them new life
in the breath of your children,
and I am angry.

…and I am sad.

You really fucked up, dad,
bad,
and the thought of ordering kit-kats
and comic books for twenty years,
god damn.
