CytotoxicityA Poem by I.F.W. Davis
Swallow me as the sea,
brine and algae, gracile and mean, clean- carbonated- serene- sedimentary, my dear. A filter-fed dread bed slow under to and fro, reeling in a deadline cast fast- a bait ‘n switch sitch, wounds with all salt no stitch- planktonic, rich. Foundational to this web of sighs, a detritus inside us that just can’t realize that a hook might be catchy, but these jaws are tongue tied, Anchored to a guilt built over Wednesdays and dried eyes. © 2023 I.F.W.
