“S**t!”A Story by AmateurGuyWithAPenJust a quick story ripped from a google doc called Chronicles just a fun thing but idk what I'monna do with the endingA car storms through gravel and grass, ramming through the dirt and grass as Niara blasts her shotgun, popping out of the car door, the kick back and the power of the shots sends the earth quaking. Trevor sits in the driver seat, as he drifts, juggling the steering wheel with almost perfect finesse and movement.Draovilich is on top, scorching and tearing apart beasts and monsters with precise, concise, searing hot lines.
She reels back from the window, reloading her shotgun to take another pot shot. It pounds a bunch of mutated beasts, meat shreds the autumn air.
Niara opens a bag in the console, holding a ton of orange glowing rods.
Flechettes butcher her right cheek as Niara reacts “F**k!” “I can hear you, you know!”
In an imposing yet powerful vehicle, Bisvon stands examining her omni tool, as her other hand melts into the cabin, operating a giant cannon attached to the side of the vehicle.
“Can we get that shield down?” Trevor asks “I can try, but you’re gonna have to just deal with the car for now.” “‘Just deal with it.’ As she says, flying from a military aircraft.” She reels in again. “Zip it with the attitude. We need to deal with the wildlife, so that’s what we’re doing-” “Ah yes, by having every single species get a taste of us!” Niara exclaims. “And what bullshit is the Skylancer being too loud anyway!” Trevor comments. “Really? Have you not heard your vehicle from the outside? Might as well be in the forsaken turbine!” Draovilich shouts. “Well yeah, but as we’re in a minivan going faster than… what’s it-” 120 miles an hour, and it’s not doing too hot either, weird noises of all kinds are sprouting about. A new one came up as well. Beeping. Trevor claws his hands. “I told you already- all of your aircrafts are too loud. The car is the only way to get them away from the facility. Just trust me.” “Uh huh, and not another nuke?” Niara asks “I’m not arguing with you, especially with that kind of argument. Besides, you've handled worse.” “Yeah that’s easy for you to say when you’re not the one with limited equipment.” “Alright cut the chatter, we’re close to the place! Niara, the repair staff is currently prepping your armor for drop.” “Wait what? Trevor! Pass me my rifle.” Trevor raises his hand, his palms go teal, her rifle lands into her hands. She checks and charges the handle on it, she kicks open the car door, as she unleashes hell on the beasts. The beasts pummel, crush, crash, thrash, sprash blood and guts; but one caught on. They lunge at Niara from the left, she slams her fist through the intestines of the thing, using the corpse as a shield for another beast clawing, climbing over the side of the car; she then punches the beast with their buddy, and then tosses them away towards the wave.
“Jesus Niara.” “Yeah or they puke their nasty acid in my face. I can teach you how to do this sometime-” “Oh hell no!” Trevor glances in disgust, but is somewhat humored by Niara’s strange attempt at generosity, while she comes back into the vehicle, shutting the door. “Heh, fair enough, you’re not really missing anything anyhow-” Niara draws a line of furious bullets across an animal that had shoved its face uninvited through a window
“Wait what do you mean the repair team’s gonna finish up!”
“What else could that mean?”
“I have a very specific way of making the armor plating. Do the engineers consult any references?”
“What, no? What, wait, you have documentation for that?” “What, nevermind!”
Draovilich scorches the back of the van, as he spies a good group of them clustered near the rear of the vehicle.
“Okay seriously, how much closer!” Trevor yells into his inner helmet mic.
“It’s 650 meters away, come on!”
Bisvon cuts connection and looks over to another woman, wires connected beneath her neck.
“Livo, how are we on the network?”
“Fine, but this s**t’s needs time, loading times are all over, Trevor’s patches are bobbing and weaving.”
Bisvon sweats.
“Can you calculate the exact distance the Skylancer can operate without scaring the beasts away?” “Sure with that chrome radio in your head!” “Okay fine!” She presses a button on her gauntlet and a prompt shows up on Livo’s screen. Bisvon reenables comms.
“Okay, you’re getting your Skylancer!”
“Thank god- F**k!”
Trevor swerves, nearly hitting a beast as it joins with the multiple packs prowling behind the minivan.
Niara was continuing her onslaught on the stampede, before noticing some shots above! Bisvon was firing her personal rifle, punching holes into the biggest beasts.
Niara picks up the pace, as more packs dropped like flies to her gun fire. Drao was still axing them with his flame, but his technique was getting sloppier, he was getting more tired. “Draovilich, get down here! You’re too exposed!”
“Or what? What do these animals have that could possibly--” He got his answer in the form of a supersonic velocity acid spit hurling at his face. He manages barely to scorch it with a blue flame shield but not before losing his grip on the roof of the vehicle. He drops, Niara catches. “Blast the ground!”
Drao does exactly that to prevent him from scraping off his entire bottom half from the gravel. She pulls him in.
“Bisvon! Give us that shield!”
“No! We need the car still as bait, they’ll stop running if it's too dangerous!”
“Huh? Haven’t we proven that though! Why haven’t they given up!” “That bag has the strongest pheromone and hormone scent cell ever devised attached, makes them go crazy. Oh-”
A single line punches through a massive Tyrannosaurus like creature about to crush the car.
“I’m not Niara, okay, deal with it!” “Wait, when is my armor ready?” “Livo!” A meter shows up in Niara’s vision on the status of the armor. Orca kraken armor. 88% done. Niara’s confused as to how she's seeing the meter. “Wha, how.”
“Don’t worry about it! You can cancel it later! And man, I forget just how packed the Skylancer is! Trevor!” “Livo?”
“Mind if I assume control!” “What, oh- Yeah okay fine, go for it! “Skylancer on approach, ETA 12 minutes.”
“And that’s just with some sporty epstein drive? No Alcubierre or onboard warp portal!” Drao says “Yeah, why are we talking about-”
Trevor catches a beast in mid-air and fires them across 15 miles in one shot of his force projector.
He notices the beautiful landscape of the planet. Despite the nuclear stains on the planet, the richness and vastness of the fauna had never been better. He shakes his head.
His visor finally gets some good news in the form of the Skylancer’s appearance in the form of a blue and yellow dot on the HUD.
“Uploading hexes now!”
“What the hell is going on over there! my crew have been waiting all day for your signal-” Radio communications shouts, Bisvon responds to the transponder “Well excuse me for the signal being s**t here! You all have given shoddy intel on that part of your plan. Anyway, I apologize for the wasted time, here’s your signal.” “Signal… understood. Everyone! Bisvon will be the secondary acolyte. She will provide additional support if needed. Legion platoon A, move in!” Trevor, Niara, and Drao all listen to the conversation confused. Niara notices the amount of mags left. 3. “How far are we now!” Trevor points “Right there!”
A tower the size of Babylon’s appears before them. Its size, height gaze as they were beneath it.
Niara checks on the meter. 100% and fully loaded onto her plane.
“Kalos! Where do you want to drop!”
“Okay, you’ve got my comms right? I will ping you when I need it. First, I need an ammo drop. And get me Nyvworne!”
“Ammo? And… you were right, you are crazy!”
“Yeah. yeah.” Niara’s tone and face drops to Livo’s statement, as she snaps out of it.
She notices the proximity
“Trevor! Drao! I think it’s time we fly this puppy!” “Fly!” They both shout confused,
“Drao, scorch the back like a thruster, Trevor, launch us into the air with the force projector!” Drao nods and lasers off the back of the van and the seats, they jettison like air from a broken airlock. The animals were in clear view but no matter. Drao concentrates his hands, before cooking and then launching a beam of ferocious hot air backwards from the vehicle launching them forward.
“Wait I should be the one launching us-” “I will be fine, Trevor. Launch us, launch the vehicle!” Trevor forces himself to accept the answer, as he punches the car door with the FP, before pointing it down and blasting the ground as much as it could go. The vehicle begins to hover, glide across the ground like it was on invisible butter.
Trevor sees his suit’s battery gauge: 44%. 40%. 35%.
“F**k.” he grits through his teeth.” Luckily the tower was getting closer and closer as the entrance got larger and larger… and a sign got larger, and larger, and larger, and oh no.
“S**t s**t s**t s**t cut thrust! Brace for impact!” He punches open palm, the titanium and steel sign caves all in one action, as the vehicle hurdles through. And it begins to rotate and twirl throughout like a bullet, the ground facing up as they dive headfirst into pavement!
The car rolls, the 50 ton chassis tumbling, bumbling, and rumbling all over, the sound of metal creaking, pounding, crumbling screeches through the air, as the vehicle finally settles onto its side. Trevor lays on the ground, the only thing that he impacted was his back against the original floor of the vehicle, now the back wall of it. Trevor looks up. Niara, Drao, he scrambles to check their vital signs, a case on his left forearm pops open to reveal tools as he plugs syringes to both Drao and Niara. Drao received a normal kind, as he locks it onto his right shoulder.
He places a specialized syringe on the back of Niara’s neck. “Vital Signs: Stable. Vitality Summary Probability: 94%. Notification! Identified improving operative consciousness-” “Ugh. What. Where. What’s going on?” “Yo, you okay?” “What, Trevor, you know I’m fine. How’s Drao?” “Stable, VSP’s 88%. Everything says he’s fine.” “Damn guy doesn’t know when to take a breather does he?” She checks him. Scorch marks on his suit, he tried to cushion the fall using high temperature air.
Trevor checks the gauge again.
21% battery.
“Thanks Alph.”
“Is that sarcastic-” “No, I’m genuine. Thanks for the force projector protection.” “Okay. I am opening a radio power channel now, you should receive charge from the Skylancer in-”
Radio power was recharging the suit, the battery was rising:
25%. 33%. 38%.
“Alphas, show me the Skylancer’s power and operations log as well.”
A new gauge of the Skylancer’s power was shown. Power generation was stifled, between the enhanced radio arrays, transmitting power to Trevor’s suit, as well as keeping the vehicle afloat in the stratosphere, the aircraft was frantic in every action.
“Hey Alph, tell the crew the ship will need to cancel and evac if it starts to lose altitude.” “Roger.”
Trevor stands and tries to wake Drao.
“Hey. Wake up Draovilich. Drao.”
Drao’s eyes open.
“Uhhhh. What uh… happened.”
“Minor head trauma. I think you smacked your head on the back board.”
“Oh wonderful. I imagine I’ll be forgetting a lot more than usual, will I?”
Niara crouches besides him.
“A bit more? Look, I don't think you’re that old.” “You’d be surprised. And I’m taking that as a compliment.” “It was trying to be. Not going to lie though, it’s my fault for not asking Trevor to push us.” “No no, don’t. We’re far enough away from them. It was a worthwhile call, even if I suffer a little-“
Drao tries to stand, Niara and Trevor act to help him. He rejects it. “I may be a little dazed, but I’m not handicapped!”
“That’s not… tsk. Damned stubborn jackass, you’re going to get yourself killed one of these days, man.” “I… t-trust me, I’m not weak.” “I never said you were- But with even half of the risks you take, I am truly stunned. And worried. It’s one thing to be brave. It’s another to be completely stupid.”
“Well, glance in the mirror and say that.”
Niara was going to rebuke, but remembered how she became a mercenary in the first place.
She sighs. “Fair enough.”
Trevor opens the bag.
The orange containers are still in the bag, and they, somehow, were magically untouched.
“I need to know the fabrication recipe for this glass man, Jesus, this stuff must be adamantium.”
Suddenly, a loud howl was heard from the distance.
“Oh son of a b***h.” Trevor says.
“Okay drop it!” Niara orders Livo.
“Got it, stand by for munitions resupply. ETA 10 minutes.” Livo says.
Trevor grabs the bags and books them to the tower, with Niara and Drao following suit. The storm of ferality was ferociously pounding and rumbling towards the scents. “Stay right there!” Bisvon shouts through the mic.
“Open the lift!” Niara mouths a what, before the ground beneath her literally caves, descending vertically.
The grounds around them falls and angles to become ramps, the beasts realizing and taking this advantage.
“Wait, my guns!”
She jumps and sprints to the crashed van, scrambling for her rifle and shotgun.
She tears the car door clean off and rips the charging handle back on her bullpup.
7 rounds.
She looks at her shotgun.
6.
“Wait Livo, that’s just a vehicle ramp, cut power! And Niara, what the hell are you doing!”
Niara jumps into the newly formed pit, now having reached 5 meters deep. She hits the ground, her knees buckle and squat. Pain, then it dies, as she stands up and gets to Drao and Trevor.
“Got it!”
The lift continued to go lower and lower.
Trevor notices the power gauge.
56%.
He grits his teeth.
“Can the leviathan take over for the hack?” “Okay.”
Trevor looks up. A beast drops on top of them.
Drao fires a single paper-thin line through the skull of the animal from his finger tip.
Now it’s Drao’s turn to grit his teeth, as his hand drops and he falters. The animal falls, Trevor dodges, and rushes to Drao.
“S**t!”
“Bisvon!”
“Okay pushing it. T- minus 20 seconds, ammunition drop incoming.” Alphas announces.
“I think we have to switch ships!” Trevor shouts “What, what do you mean!” Then Niara realizes. “Wait, where is that thing dropping!”
Niara looks up and sees the thing hurdling down at terminal velocity right above them.
“S**t! Everyone! Get away from the center and get down! Cover your ears!”
Niara checks its relative position and sprints to Trevor and Drao, the two looking away, as she dives her body in front of them, shielding them, her hands cupping her ears bracing for impact.
BANG!
The sudden uppercut in air pressure would’ve bombarded their ear drums but because of the makeshift protection, it only crippled them slightly.
Still, Niara, Drao, and Trevor’s received a taste of tinnitus, deep, melodic, harmonic ringing, that felt happier than where and what it’s caused from.
Before it ended, Niara bolts up and rips the door off the pod, and grabs all of the ammunition. And then she saw her figurative golden hunk of iron. The Nyvworne. A massive fully automatic anti-aircraft cannon. Currently chambered in 45 mm of composite super heavy, barely stable tungsten isotope, radioactive uranium, synthetic stable element 244 and element 257 homing Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Disintegrating Sabot- High Explosive capable rounds -- the gun will crush anything that’s in its wake. Niara holds it up, for a second barely, getting used to the weapon's weight. She chambers a round with its motorcycle style pistol grip handles. It had a bullet fabricator and conveyor attached to the belt feed. She takes its sling and hangs it over her back, while clipping the bullet fabricator onto her waist. She loads her rifle with all her goodies before she sees more beasts coming after the bag. Bang! And a flurry of more bangs run after it, shaking the air and rummaging the air with guts and blood, the gore rains down as she reloads in a blink as she runs back towards Drao and Trevor. “You're reaching the entrance!” “About f****n time! Drao!” He roars as his blue flame roasts and roars the ground in intense heat, but the animals didn't give up. One animal lunges and slams their jaw on his armor “Oh!” He wrenches the animal’s jaw as he boils them to ward them. Niara draws her NYVWORNE. BANG! Instantly, a group of animals evaporates from the impact of the round, Drao uses the blast to throw them off. The animals just got more pissed. The animals try again to lunge, but Trevor catches them with the force projector. They rattle in their virtual cage as he pushes them back. Trevor checks 60 59 58 57 He sees the door and opens his palm. A perfect square draws on its surface. Suddenly the door opens. “Thank you.” “Okay, evacuating the Skylancer, it's losing altitude.” “Okay thank you. Skylancer is leaving!” “What's next?” “Take the bag and only the bag and throw it here!” A map ping of 133 meters shows up. It was further below. “Come on.” Trevor says Niara stands in front and lets the beasts froth up. A blistering cyclic rate of 2500 rounds per minute floods the room, bullets after more bullets, after more bullets scatter and crash through the interior. A wall of corpses piles up, as a tidal wave of ferociousness claws forward anyway. Niara fires at a window to her right. Gash! Kalos hops through, Drao and Trevor follow and dash behind. There, there were stairs and a thin corridor. The beasts flood in like a tsunami. One gets greedy and slashes and thrashes their razor talons at Trevor. Trevor points, guiding their claw hand close to his before he pulls the beast in hard and choke holds them-- “Like this right?” Trevor shouts “Yes!” Niara replies. Trevor notices the animals standing back, but one saw right through it and went in for a killing bite. Trevor uses their elbow to block them before the nanomachines on his suit kick the beast off, as he further kicks and throws the beast off away. He launches them further back, the stampede dodges and rolls to get them. The hallway opens up. Niara fires vertically choked grapeshot from her shotgun, it grabs a good few of them, but the rest keep going. Niara punches a few of them in rapid succession, before grabbing two of them and chucking them towards a pair heading to Drao and Trev. They get knocked over, Trevor looks shocked. “W-what?” A new beast jumps to his head as Trevor smacks them in the face. Drao burns a blue hot fire to split the army evenly, but that just made four streams of animals come at once Niara looks back. 129 meters. “Guys it's this way!” Niara fires a quick shot with the NYVWORNE, it connects, a harrowing detonation ruptures the air, too close, air pressure rattles Niara’s ear. The three of them race towards the objective. The animals follow suit. Meanwhile: “I'm an idiot.” Bisvon says while observing from the ship above. “Should've told them to go to the reactor first and then throw the bag into the pit to lure them.” “What’s that? Is that Bisvon admitting an error of hers?” ”Yeah, don't get used to it.” Bisvon thinks. She facepalms. “Stupid stupid.” “Trevor, how many of the rods can you carry on your suit?” “I dunno, as many as you want! Why!” Trevor dodges an animal’s claw hand at the same time. “Niara, is Drao weak?” Drao was about to rebuke but Niara cuts in. “Wha, what kinda question is that? He's doing fine, just don't push him. He says a lot of s**t, but he's not like a trained athlete.” Drao is stuck to register the comment in silence. “Kay. Understood, you and him will take care of the animals and lure them here--” A new pin dot shows up behind them. “I…” Drao looks in the same direction. “What?” “Everyone, we’re changing the plan, again,” Bisvon announces. “Livo, put a lock on that window.” She engages a harness, slipping on a jump kit, as well as a few gloves. “What's going on?” “Okay, this is the one time you get to make a comment. I fucked up. You were supposed to get the things out and then get the bag to the destination. So we'll do just that in two teams.” Niara notices text on a wall: “Biodyne research.” as she was bursting ammo at the animals. “Wait, are these things Biodynes!” “Basically. You and Drao, go to supply garage 23 to trap the animals. One of you then needs to get to the ventilation, a1c to deploy the antidote." Trevor, you're replacing the dead capsules in sub reactor room AA. You have your gauss SMG?” “Yes?” “Good. Be prepared to use it if your power goes down.” Trevor checks the ammo. Tranquilizer sapper. Only 40 rounds of ammo in one magazine. “Got it.” “Ok go!” Bisvon gets her rifle and her object tool in her hands. She raises her arm to see the hologram, aiming the giant cannon. “Firing.” The glass window disintegrates, as a giant cable erects in its stead. Bisvon ziplines in. “INTRUDER ALERT, INTRUDER ALERT, UNKNOWN ENTITY HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED NEAR CAPITAL CONTROLS.” Niara, Drao, and Trevor stop in their tracks to see video footage from tv screen nanomachines of the event from above. Niara and Drao stare in awe. Trevor nods and keeps going. He opens the door gently to find a giant machine, a turbine in the center and several capsule slots. “Power ports.” He checks the capsules. Their orange glow illuminates text: “High compression fluid battery. Alert! Low power.” “There is still 10,343 kilowatt-hours of power left.” Trevor plugs in one. The reactor chirps. The orange is replaced with a satisfying green light. He installs another, and another, and another. “Reactor re-activating. Checking…” Trevor looks at the rest, he notices that there were more than what was on the reactor. “Bisvon?” “Yeah?” “What other reactors are there?” “Oh I forgot to give you the rest. Yeah, you’re going to need to replace the fluid in those batteries and then plug them into these devices.” She marks them on the map. “Okay.” Trevor leaves the room, and goes to the closest one he sees. “Is that a refuel station I’m approaching?” “Yes, should be according to the map-” Suddenly, an explosion erupts besides her face, an energy shield summons before her, as it disintegrates and deflects the projectiles and air moving towards her. She looks left. Androids. Combat androids as well as exact copies of the beasts outside crawl and sculk towards her. The difference these ones were much more focused and conniving. They were like robots made of flesh and bone, puppeteering in animal skin. The side of their body bursts open to reveal a cannon, as they fired some sort of contained cell at Bisvon, subsonic, not so fast. She’s not stupid and activates the shield again, catching and then tossing aside the rounds in a stormy whirl of particles. She reforms the field into a solid, dense field of particles, as it walled them in. She draws her rifle, taking fast shots at the androids attacking her; they all go down, but this causes nanomachines to crawl across the floor like mites, spiders, and maggots. She sprints through them, only for the floorboards and roof tiling to split and reveal blobby, disgusting messes of biological mass crawling across the floor before they burst open like eggs, giving birth to more of these synthetic beasts. Her arm opens up, a subcompact variant of an ARMAX incisor plasma handgun, and it tears the beasts into a vaporized gorey mess, Bisvon only covering her face with the shield from the blast of guts and blood, as she continues to rip through the onslaught. Her leg swims through the bodies swirling and lunging at her, while weaving through the shots that the androids were sending towards her; One of the dog’s gouges her cheek; her instincts reply by drawing a large cannon looking device strapped to her back. It grabs, freezes the beasts in absolute, perfect suspension, as she twirls to capture more into the armature’s field, swinging more to then toss them out of the window. Her omnitool’s then fabricates a thinner than obsidian blade, swinging it about ward off the predators, before going back to her rifle, punching the droids in the face with flechettes the size of sewing needles, as she storms passed the left over beasts trying to gnaw at Bisvon. “How are you holding up-” Bisvon tries talking to Trevor, but is met with similar sounds of battle coming from below. Terminator like Androids pressure Trevor. Bullets, plasma, flechettes, energy, missiles, explosions bully the surface of a hallway wide barrier. “You are instructed to reveal yourself!” The androids shout, continuing their assault, as more androids come and try their luck against the barrier Trevor checks a map he downloaded. Low ceiling, tight corridors. There, an opening, it leads to a cavernous lobby. He punches the barrier with his force projectors before sucking in and magnetically attaching to the barrier, flying through the tight spaces on his tiny, makeshift glider. The Terminators become stunned, they fire into the air without any hope that they will hit anything. Trevor swerves, and rolls teensy bits to avoid obstacles, eventually he twirls upside down, and rides the thing defying gravity all together. They miss, and dodge every single droid that attempts to attack them. Finally, the tunnel vanishes, as he flips and ditches the glider for his own flight, he sails through the air before he zips in a blink of an eye. Guns. Guns pointed at Trevor ready to shred him to pieces from 5 sides. The exit was blocked. Trevor noticed invisible enemies surrounding him as well. Nope, the missile launchers trained on him fail to lock, Trevor dismantles the screws and bolts off of the guns, they disintegrate into their components easily as he uses the butt of one rifle as a hook to the exit’s threshold. He hurls towards like it was a grappling hook, concisely slipping through the tiny gap in one swift motion. Trevor sees the power station… it was directly behind the Terminators. Trevor slots all of the power cells in, as the bots press on with their assault. Trevor launches an EMP from his force projector -- the droids are only staggered for a little bit. Trevor continues to stagger them with the EMP, while analyzing their radio network frequency, spamming malware through their channels to try to shut them down somehow. It was all null. He then warps, peels the sides of a threshold to form a wall. However it was a thin wall, and the bullets on their weapons kept going through it. He checks the batteries themselves: They were now a yellowish color. “Come on.” One of the droids got through and started shooting towards Trevor, but he staggered them again with another emp. 44%. Then he registered the power cell generator next to him. “Oh duh.” He places his hand against the generator port, as it becomes a new power source for him, directly charging his suit and his force projector. He creates a net of pure electrostatic force, bullets catch and trap themselves into it like fish into bait. Trevor crushes them to form a heavy, dense metallic gas, the droids become dazzled, as Trevor creates spikes through out the hall of the left and the right room. He cuts off both openings. The cells were a yellowish green, closer. But the droids got a bright idea, as they cut the spikes, and continue their onslaught He draws his SMG, and waits for a lock on the droids. “Come on!” He fires anyway and uses his force projectors to dart the rounds to and fro between droids. The minute they touch the droids, they go down, as Trevor rips them out at the tip and proceeds to rinse and repeat throughout the droids invading. But suddenly one of the droids started to fry the rounds with a laser, and more of the spikes. They move further into Trevor’s space. Trevor looks around, he switches vision modes to see through the ground. He sees pillars and wires. And a giant horizontal pillar under him. He looks through the ceiling. More wires, and another pillar. Trevor moves the gas through more of the space. The batteries were getting closer to the solid green. And closer. And closer. The droids and the battery percentage. And closer. And closer. That green. It’s perfect! Trevor swipes the battery and breaks the spikes from the wall, sweeping the droids off their feet. ZIP! He’s flying above a gap below, as he looks up. “Alphas! What’s going on with the reactor?” “Working, it’s back to fully functioning. “A’ight, then up i need to go right?” “Yes, laser the wall to your left, there’s a lift there.” Trevor flicks and glues himself to a wall. “S**t, there’s like thirteen layers of steel here, can I be at a hundred for just one minute!” Trevor points his fingers out which draws a red solid square. It burns bright orange; A solid 5% from his battery subtracts, now at 36%. “Could I top off for one minute?” Trevor dives through the gap before zipping to the top. -- -- -- -- “Drao! Here!” Niara smashes her hand through the glass of a vending machine. The shards pierce through her skin, but the urgency makes her ignore all of the pain, as she rips out multiple drinks and snacks. “Take these!” Drao sees a drink called: “Booty Sweat.” among them. “Niara, firstly, what is this… vulgar, and I already have a liver problem, I don’t-” He sends a giant wall of fire trembling throughout a descending room, the biodynes and androids swerve as they barrel with their constant onslaught. “It’s protein, it’s just gonna give you a bit more strength!” she yells as she gently plucks the shards out of her arm. Niara replies to the army by attrition, as the shattering, quaking blast of the NYVWORNE burrows through the crowds. But an Android caught on and started predetonating the rounds before they even touched them. Then it was like a domino effect, the bullets exploded in a straight line, bursting right in front of Niara. She is staggered, she holds the trigger harder on her gun and pushes a dial further and further, the gun fire got faster and harder. The droids were washed back by wrathful fire, others shot back, with one of the dog biodynes attacking with the cells from before. One hits Niara’s skin, a small cancer began to infect her arm. “S**t! Drao.” Drao slices a clean chunk of Niara’s arm off. She winces, but shakes her head and continues the fight. That chunk began to become more and more of a tumor as it bursted open and disintegrated. Niara stops the fire, before individually sniping each biodyne, their bodies go splat as soon as each bullet hit. She hits specific spots on the ground, stopping movements and obliterating anyone who invades too harshly. Niara checks Drao. Drao was executing fifty eight different maneuvers a second, with each movement straining his body more and more. Veins were starting to show, his breathing ragged and uneven. The walls of fire continue to split until they hardened into solid shapes of pure, sweltering heat, as lines, squares, circles, balls, embers, they mash, curl, claw, and twist, like a light show of a magician, But the laziness and slack was showing. He checks behind him. A series of lights matched with floors. Sub basement floor 15, they need to get to 20 He grabs the water and a snack bar and shoves them down his stomach.
“Niara. You can handle a little radiation right?” “Drao what do you have planned!” “Armaxing them, I’m going to pull a nuke-” Niara eyes go wide, “Wait wait, we need them!” Niara slings her gun as she pries open a pair of elevator doors with her hands. “It’s about a 50 meter drop! Can you jet us down!” “Jet! In my condition?” “Can you try?” “Can you handle a concussion!” She tilts her head like he knows the answer. “Alright hang on!” Drao cuts his attack as a panther pounces at him. He cuts it and the door in half, as he dives his head into Niara’s mid section and jumps off the descending elevator, “I can take the fall, save yourself!” Niara shouts at Drao. “No, I refuse! I refuse to run anymore!” Drao jets and blasts as much fire against gravity as much as possible as the ground’s face was encroaching them faster and faster. Finally, he blasts the ground with an airburst, punting the two across the floor, blocks of ice. Niara sees a wall approach her. She lets it hit. She exhales, seethes out her teeth in pain. She has to take a second, as Drao rolls about to cover their impact. The elevator was still taking its time, as Niara grunts. “F**k.” She stands up, shoving the pain six feet under and away in her head. She puts her hand out. “Drao?” He looks at her in complete shock. “Remember what I said about looking at a mirror and saying that?” “Yeah?” “This is one of those times.” “Hah.” She throws her head away in laughter, giggling. “No, but almost nuking the room wasn’t? Come on.” She grabs and pulls Drao anyway. “Okay, where’s that control room?” She checks about. Drao points, a control room in glass on top of a garage door. “Wow, something convenient for once!” Niara exclaims, as Drao jerks his head towards it. He sits with his hands, as Niara shakes her head. She plants her foot before dashing, as she bounces off a left wall and pedals up a wall, her hands and fingers grip the wall with iron strength, as she balances between the 6 inch sill. She sighs, and checks her arm. The shards were still there, and they still hurt like a ton. “Wait, I’m dumb.” as she back kicks the window, cracks start to show up, as she hits it again, and again. Smash! She ducks and gets to the controls. Drao’s eye lids go flat. “Niara, I could just smelt it next time-” “Well I’m not going to strain you, you’re like 60 years old!” He walks closer. “And broken glass on your foot is rarely productive. Also, I’m 43!” Drao flicks his finger as the top of the window melts clean off as it waters down and crystalizes into sharp, sharp structures. “Well now I’m insulted. But nevertheless, as you saw, I can just do that.” He ambles up. Niara crosses her arms. “Please, let me, next time?” Niara rolls her eyes, as she presses a button labeled door open. “What was that?” “We’re locking them in, and we’re finding the ventilation system so that we can deploy the antidote thing.” She ponders. “What antidote?” “That was my next question. Wait, we’re deploying antidotes to biodynes? Are they not machines?” Niara taps on her bone near her ear. “Yeah? And I guess we are.” “Yo! Where’s the antidote.” “So behind you.” Bisvon was operating a computer, as her large energy shield blocked the entrance, stopping the enemies from invading. “Is a door leading to a hallway of scientific laboratories. Find Laboratory CTR88901, and then grab the giant box of vials. You cannot miss it.” Niara looks behind her, and approaches said door. “Emergency manual code is 1039. And 111111 for all doors after.” Her head tilts back. “What?” “Why is Trevor the only competent cybersecurity lead i’ve met?” Drao says “What happens when the old and reminiscent stay immortal in a constantly evolving world. Don’t question it.” Niara says, tapping in the code. The door slides open, and they walk through. Niara pulls out her rifle. “What is the difference between those two?” “Big gun, big things. Small guns, small things and everything in between.” She calms her self and listens to the movements in her ears. “How’s Trevor?”
“Trevor! The Skylancer is back to full flight capacity!” “Should I send them?” “It’s not necessary. I’ll tell you when.” Bisvon commands. Niara’s right ear twitches left, an android had shouldered a rifle and was about to fire. Niara fired first. “S**t, we’ve got more droids!” “Alright, I’m shutting up. Trevor, get ready to man the station.” Bisvon checks the computer. She sighs this time. “Okay. Priming.” Suddenly, the facility charged back to operation. Dead, dark hallways turned to bright, but sterilely, lifeless white halls. “Facility is back to nominal status. Fusion reaction are properly fuelling the facility, and the injectors are good as well. Trevor?” Trevor pulls a switch, studying the instructions for every detail, as he presses each individual button, the clicks creating a subtle satisfying rhythm. He starts to get it, reading the manual, clicking new buttons and switches and keys like it was a piano and he was a maestro. The room starts to churn, a hauntingly powerful, strong hum runs through the lower floorboards, reaching to the injector. A turbine started to spin and whirl, as pipes with gauges, physical and holographic measure the pressure intake. Green. A green line banners across the screen with the words: “Ready” Screaming all over, as a red button turns green. Bisvon checks the garage on a monitor. “Right. Firing.” Trevor and Bisvon hit the buttons simultaneously. Gases bombard the garage as Niara covers her face, Drao presenting his hand but she shakes her head and puts it down, covering him. The biodyne androids slow and pacify, eventually falling down into a slumber. Their eyes die down into shut off lights. “How long is this running for?” Bisvon sighs, looking at the control panel. “Could someone at least tell me what’s happening?” Bisvon says “I mean they’re tipping over. We’re not killing them are we?” Niara replies “No, but the pacification protocols from the gas are just probably shutting them down for a bit.” “What the hell are they inhaling anyway?” “It’s… basically a drug that affects their programming.” A pause rings through the room. “Huh?” “Trevor can explain it.” “What?” Trevor asks, “Wait, it’s a drug? How does that?” Niara says “Trevor, you know engineering, could you?” “What? I don’t, I’m no biodyne expert. Just because I made a starship doesn’t make me god man of the universe of that s**t. Although if you care, just imagine a giant datacard in a gas, and when the robots breathe the gas, the gas turns into usable data, which they register to become more passive. Although the gas I think also causes their cellular genes to contain the same passive code, I don’t know though.” Niara takes a second, “I guess that makes sense, okay. How did they get aggressive in the first place though?” “Someone decided to muck with the leftover working biodynes after the world was glassed with nukes. And then someone had the bright idea to introduce a digital virus that caused them to ravage you like we saw.” “Oh. So, people being stupid.” “Yeah.” Bisvon responds. Niara looks at the lying biodynes. “What are we waiting for?” Niara asks Suddenly the biodynes began waking up, as if they awoke from a deep slumber. They looked around, before they wandered around the floor. She just stares, “Uhh.” “What’s going on now?” “I have no idea. They’re just wandering around now.” “Okay great, that’s what we’re looking for. Deploying gas now!” “What, oh alrighty then.” There were rings around the peak of the tower that began to disperse orange particle clouds. “Squads, what is your status. And leader A clean
