Dispirited Trust

Dispirited Trust

A Poem by Ian Caithness
"

This poem is quite difficult to interpret; on some levels, it is intended to reflect trust, how it can be broken with such ease but it offers some hope. As poems often have different meanings, interpret it how you will.

"

The broken trust
All so clear,
My spirit, so crushed…

Your death is a must,
I live in fear,
The broken trust,

My pain, your lust,
I feel so queer,
My spirit, so crushed…

Your actions unjust,
A single tear,
The broken trust,

How can I adjust,
When you’re always near,
My spirit, so crushed…

My life discussed,
It’s so severe,
The broken trust,
My spirit, so crushed…

Author's Note

Ian Caithness
I found that this poem was not quite the beauty I had imagined it. There is a lack of imagery which seems to be deter from the power and the raw emotion underlying the words. The flow is simple but I also appreciate the grammar can mean the meaning is disjointed. Feel free to comment upon structure, grammar and technique.

Obviously, I see that the person who hurt you is constantly around, so you find it hard to move on and/or forget, correct? Very subtle. I often have that same problem.

Review some of mine?
I'll read more of yours now :]
