Moon Waters Back Home.

Moon Waters Back Home.

A Poem by Ian Chris
"

How life and the elements in the sky can bring back very powerful memories.

"

Moon Waters Back Home.

I drink the still quiet memories of the solid moon

The moon brilliant and calm

disintegrates forming ripples of my fingertips

I transform its roundness

into a thousand pieces

of amorphous light that sip

from the leaky cup of my hands.

The running water makes

laughing waterfall natural music

to the back-to-country ears.

This spring lake to which I return

on this morning was the waters of my youth.

It watered the roots

of my great-grandfather's youth before mine

They revered the untouchable fish

that kept the pure water clean so long ago.

The big men from town

brought work to our village

They placed an asbestos plant

upstream

that our economic life may flourish.
