Is There Some Hope ?

Is There Some Hope ?

A Story by Ian Chris
"

A poem which look at how the concept of hope can be very precious.

"

Is There Some Hope ?

In wintry spring weather

every country and town

trees stand comfortably

in the whipping cold wind.

But my human being,

still chilled through under my

covering, bring itself

inside and thinks : about

the bride-price of somewhere

an unavailable

vaccine ; about hunger

in the shadow of a

treaty ; about a girl

who walked by me wearing

a man's frayed overcoat

and asked me for only one pound.

Just where a red-feathered songbird was

putting a typical

street corner inside unexpected musical

quotation marks ; about

the friend who turned away

and with the last breathe

gave up loving and dying.

I like your writing.
Your poem is very aware. Relatable. You did well

Very good Chris. Is there some hope? Sometimes you think, not much! You have done your own bit here by stirring your readers to ponder these horrible inequities in our world.

Alan
