The Jazz Lovers

The Jazz Lovers

A Poem by Ian Chris
"

This is a poem about cruel love can be.

"

The Jazz Lovers.

She calls

he picks up the telephone

he asks how she's been doin'

and she says fine

and she asks him how he 's been doin'

he says fine and mentions

that's it's been over a year.

She agrees and she says

she misses him at times

he asks her what she's been into

and she says she been goin' to

college, practising

taking saxophone lessons.

He asks her to come over

she says yeah

she's there in fifteen minutes

they sit in his room

drink some rum, smokes a blunt

listen to his music.

He moves his hand towards her

and he is almost ready

when she brushes his hand away

and gently says

'no, I just wanted to see

if the feeling is there

but honey it ain't'.

Good! I like that you've kept the style simple. The ending is blunt and to the point!
Well done!

Would you like to check out my dialogue 'Conversation no 2557' on the same subject. All will become clear!
