"What Were You Looking For"

"What Were You Looking For"

A Poem by I Am THE LADY POET

What Were You Looking For?

It seems that you are not used to a good woman
By a good woman I mean a woman like myself
One who carries herself with class and respect

I work, and I take care of what's mine
I handle my own, I take care of my business
And I am doing just fine

The time that we talked you showed interest
And the conversation was intellectual
But you soon pulled away
And you appeared to become skeptical

I don't know what it is that you were looking for
You never called again or did not return my message
If you weren't interested then all you had to do was say that

What was it? Was I not slim enough? pretty enough?
Or Did I not show enough skin
Well if so it's because I'm a lady and my beauty is within

This is good! But what really comes through is what is not being said. It sounds like a woman looking for love in all the wrong places. Love finds you when you least expect it. Who you present may not be what people see. Its hard to see what others see. Strenght lies in humility, independence in the ability to follow when you choose. Well done.

self respect is most important.Unless you respect yourself you can't expect others to. So he did not call back.Perhaps he was not used to women who show their independence. Strong women frighten weak men

Good message. I think you should take out the 'did not' in "You never called again or did not return my message." It jumbles up the sentence. I think everyone can relate to this poem, I'm sure we have all asked ourselves that question. The last line in beautiful. I wish more people focused on inner beauty but no one seems to have the patience for that. good read.
