I hate to see you cry because it hurts me deep inside

To see the tears running down your face

To see your face out of place from that ear to ear smile

That you usually have, it hurts me to see you sad

 

I hate to hear you cry it sends me running to your side

To see what's wrong and I try to soothe you with a song

Until once again I can see that ear to ear smile

Because I know you'll be on your own in a little while 

So I'll try to keep you happy and smiling while I can

Because not long from now you'll be a grown man

 

I hate to see you cry, I hate to see you leave my side

To step out into the world on your own

But I'll  remember you won't be alone

For I trained you up in the way you should go

Saying a prayer for you so that you will always know

That God is beside you every step of the way

But you must remember to include Him in your day

 

I hate to see you cry and God does too

So remember that He is watching and

He is always here for you

I will always be praying no matter where you may be

I guess you can say that's just the mother in me.
