Swallow.

Swallow.

A Poem by Thinking Anonymously

What is it about me?
That screams
"Bit on the side"?
Can I never be enough
To persuade you to
Take another bite
And not leave me
Half eaten
A carcass for the next.

You dress me like
A pretty little platter
For your
table
But you've already had your fill.
And I won't
Swallow
my spite
While you refuse to
Swallow me
Whole.

You come home like
You've saved yourself
For them
When parts of me
Lie dead within you.
You'll choke them down.
An ordeal
You clearly save for
Only the best.

You're eyes are
Too big
For a boy like you.
A mouthful
You can't choke down.
And yet
I'm the one whose not
Enough.

You can dress me like
A pretty little platter
For your table.
You can
Take a slice.
But I will
Sneak the bones with me
And take my slice of
What you owe.

Author's Note

Thinking Anonymously
Definitely a raw one. Be kind- I'm not a writer, just have big feelings!
