Grasp.

Grasp.

A Poem by xXxCynicalWarsxXx

You stand on the edge of falling into me,

Balancing so perfectly as you perform.

You take me to a place called home and joy.

And you say,

“Grasp these hands of mine and hold them to your beating heart,

And you shall see what it’s done to me.

A saving grace so unexplained, so real to me.

Take these hands and hold them to your mouth and kiss each knuckle softly,

Telling them that no matter what they do to you,

They’ll be loved ever more, that they’re perfect.

Take these hands and never let go as we run into the setting sun.”

And I see it now:

As the fire blazes through the sky, we run for our future,

Forever young and in love.  Forever young.  So young.

We jump into the air, flying so high as the wings take shape.

Hand in hand, we’re being us, soaring through the clouds.

Holding you close, a soft voice whispering life.

“Please, grasp these hands and never let them go.”
