Anesthesia

Anesthesia

A Poem by Hypnotique
"

Moved from my old account: I was reading the paper one day, when an article about a man who has been on death row for 41 years caught my attention and infuriated me.

"

There’s a monster behind bars

Cold steel doors and hardened hearts

Raping minds of all who come

To put him down- to end his search.

Ending now- his price to pay

Is ne’er to see another day

He fights, he screams, he kicks and moans

Plays fear and anguish as all he’s known.

Exacerbated, opinionated,

Pledging devotion to his hatred.

Momentary his adversary

Then his death considered unsanitary

When-

All that he feels is pain

That’s why he plays his games

There is no reasoning to every single action he-

Takes all his life away

Make for a brighter day

The world will see there is no reason to

Anesthetize.

There’s a table somewhere near

No safer than the electric chair.

Pins and needles stab his brain.

Then all is still and menacing.

The votes are all unanimous

The doctors’ pusillanimous

Jabbed with rage from every man

It’s all part of his master plan.

Elementary proficiency

Misinterpreted his felicity.

Embryonic state- Catatonic fate

Death by barbiturates will his desire sate

All that he feels is pain

That’s why he plays his games

There is no reasoning to every single action he-

Takes all his life away

Make for a brighter day

The world will see there is no reason to

Anesthetize.

41 years he’s putting to death

All because of his habitual mess.

Darkness entombed, focus resumed

We’ll never suffer him indignities like he

Suffered us.

Like he murdered us.

Like he tortures us.

Like he’s killing us.

Ambiguous are the feelings we leave

We’ll never watch another man bleed

We’ll watching as they fall from damages reaped

But cry as we tuck them in for their sleep.

As humanity fails to see the insanity-

Because-

All that we feel is pain

That’s why we’re in his game

There is no justice in any of the actions we-

Taking our lives away

Makes his a brighter day

When will we see there is no reason to-

Anesthetize?
