Rape of the Landscape

Rape of the Landscape

A Poem by Hypnotique
"

Moved from my old account: Based on the abuse of a horse at a petting zoo who had frozen to death outside and was completely encased in ice during New England's 2008 ice storm.

"

Cold.

Cold, cold as ice.

Cold as the sky and earth are

OLD, ancient darkness of day.

The unequivocal stench of rot and decay.

Old as the break of an underworld’s dawn,

And of the setting of a dead

SUN breeds nothing, all set in ice.

Quiet little sacrifice.

Quaint and cozy, bedded down

Stillness and silence all

SURROUNDED by nothing, all friends stowed away.

Emaciated statues pray.

For the opening of acknowledgement,

The dead seem to

SAY nothing poor of the dead

Or the craziness in my head.

Not a word to be said.

Not a word to be said.
