when your eyes are once

when your eyes are once

A Poem by Degare

when your eyes are once,
they break into their own moons,
to dip your tired undoing light into every bit,
to slowly tide them over,
to earn love as final pact, death as broaden daylight,
never thinking every ocean is too little ocean.

finally, when the earth turns
into her own shades of smelted blue,
when grass is greener and heart
old yet vibrant,
we would think of times
where gods of day had sunk into us both
and our bodies perch the chalice of capital
blooming with and without soul
tilting, we would flutter eyes close,
in faint yellow algae light
holding each other unknowingly
