frowns in despair…

frowns in despair…

A Poem by Huw

Misery wears an outward smile

that arises in pretence

while inwardly the soul

frowns in despair…

I wrote this as a reaction to a young woman that I exchanged a passing greeting with a couple of days ago. She returned my greeting with a smile and a "fine thank you" in answer to my enquiry as to her well-being. I knew that the smile and the answer were a pretence and that she was suffering from severe inner turmoil.

About
I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
