THE KISS OF DEATH...

THE KISS OF DEATH...

A Poem by Huw

Teddy bears, candles and flowers
have no power to heal the loss
the evil, the murder and the mayhem
we have witnessed and felt of late
People milling, quietly and tearfully
seeking answers but what answers?
They don’t even know the questions
because, why? Why does not suffice
but why is all they have on lips that quiver
in the mind that refuses to focus
when emotions run riot and grief blinds
give us comfort let us find peace
should be the request but let us have fun
is the result, let us enjoy is the only
request the people have and let not terror
spoil our fun and games let us play harder
let us play together and pretend it won’t
happen again but the fear and trembling
continue unabated as heavily armed men
patrol our streets to protect us from
the enemy we allowed in that we welcomed
with open arms into the bosom of society
only to receive the kiss of death…

About
I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
