....his next hike.

....his next hike.

A Poem by Huw

When something goes wrong

it often leads to a succession

of other wrongs

like dominos falling

the last one having

danger written on it.

It was darkening quickly

and he couldn't find the route

off the mountain.

Into the forest he thought

and just follow the track.

Darkness in a forest is black

as a cows stomach

and it soon was.

The sweeping curves of the

long and winding track

had more minor tracks

like veins leading of an artery.

He'd ventured down five veins

only to find dead a end.

Each time he came back out

he could feel his energy seeping.

his water having been depleted

his batteries about to give up

he felt the unwelcome tide

of panic and knew the danger.

Sweating, panting,

thirst, tiredness threatening

to each and all ingulf him

like a tsunami of nightmares.

He heard the welcoming sound

of cattle and quickly the equation formed.

Cattle = field=hedges=gate=farm track

and so it was as he made his

way to his car making,

in his minds eye, preparations,

for his next hike.

About
I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
