Encouragement at the bar.

Encouragement at the bar.

A Poem by Huw

If we were able to personify encouragement and then call him to the bar of equity, he would have a great deal to answer for.

Why did you tell that man he was clever?

We now have to suffer his ineptitude being displayed and his grovelling for applause.

Why did you tell that man he was funny, haha?

We have suffered so often and been witnesses to his outright murdering of perfectly healthy and funny jokes.

What possessed you to tell that man he was a leader?

Have you seen the amount of dead bodies?

And telling that woman she could sing?

Do you realise the ear damage it’s caused? People were crushed in the rush to get out of the auditorium.

Telling that woman she looks young?

That was pure evil on your part. The poor lambs that have been fleeced to keep up that pretence!

Teaching is a very honourable profession and you have caused complete chaos by telling those people they can teach. When all they are capable of is repeating ‘’stuff’’ they have read.

Encouragement, you don’t seem to have anything to say in your defence, and there are no character witnesses to speak on your behalf. It is therefore the duty of this judge to point out that in your many guises you are at heart a deceiver, liar and fraud. Furthermore you are by nature delusional and attract delusional people especially the young, the proud and the discontented.

It has been brought to our attention that you have, on occasion, acted in conjunction with I Dare You and rationalization. The results of this union have been hazardous to say the least.

That being said, you have done an excellent job and there are many more recruits who would just love to be encouraged, dismissed.

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
