...if my mother lets me.

...if my mother lets me.

A Poem by Huw

I know

lets build a den!

down the Cwm

We can use those tin sheets

and those drums

lets find some planks

Decisions and orders

flying through the air

as the children

flew across the landscape.

Before the 12pm ‘’DINNER’’

shout came from mothers

up and down the lane

Method and madness.

Wash your hands

look at the state of you

sit down

elbows off the table

leave the dog alone

is that enough chips?

eat the peas

have some bread and butter

ask before you leave the table

Can I leave the table PLEASE

Put the planks on the drums

and the sheets on top

Shall we start a club

and pay sub’s

we can have a collection

has anyone got any money

Lets go find some pop bottles

3d back on the bottle

we’ll soon have a kitty.

lets buy some matches

we can build a fire

lets get potatoes

and cook them

Why won’t this wood burn

the grass burns to quick

we need more paper

is that the last match?

I have to be home

before it gets dark

lets meet here tomorrow

we need an axe

I’ll bring an axe

if my mother lets me.

A snap shot in which there would be three boys. Tudor Morgan, Peter Hill and myself.

If only I could apply and share the aromas that I recall.

Well, you made me recall those aromas. Perfect snapshot of how it was. Nowadays of course, it's not safe to let your kids out of sight for a nano second.

S**t world really. T

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
