FREE HUGS

FREE HUGS

A Poem by Huw

She was young
and full of herself.
She hastened towards me
with arms outstretched
saying let me hug you!
I was taken aback
and didn’t offer her
the opportunity
It’s free she enthused
I’m giving free hugs…today!

I asked her to repeat what she had said.
I then explained that the hug was not free.
That she would get a great deal of personal
satisfaction out of the hug, but at my expense.

She gave it some thought and nodded in agreement
….I’m going home now, she said.

About
I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
