Lowliness

Lowliness

A Poem by Huw

The desire

to please

the need

to be accepted

the love

of praise

until praise

is seen

as empty

of no value

boring

what will your

child do then

when there

is nothing left

no hope

no exhilaration

nothing enjoyable

of any lasting worth

when all disappoints

and is free falling

like dying leaves

to the ground.

many use the

tree from which

the leaves have fallen

throwing a rope

over a high branch

in their desperate

lowliness.

This was written as a response to the amount of you men hanging themselves in South Wales.

The Bridgend suicide incidents are a set of suicides involving young people in Bridgend County Borough in South Wales. Reports speculated that a "cult suicide" was to blame.[1] As of February 2012, there have been seventy-nine known deaths since January 2007,[2] though police have found no evidence to link the cases together. Of 25 people who killed themselves between January 2007 and February 2009, all but one died from hanging.

i feel sometimes praise is just flung out there arbitrarily...and it is better to be somewhat reserved with it for special occasions...then it means more...

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
