Troubled soul of man.

Troubled soul of man.

A Poem by Huw

Even if the guilt

does not produce

shame as it should.

The conscience having

been hardened against

such a delicate touch.

The guilt itself

will insure that

there is no peace.

No waking peace

and no peace in sleep.

Guilt

the unseen

unheard

barely perceived

often denied

monster

that brings

tribulation

and anguish

upon and unto

the restless spirit

and troubled soul of man.

I enjoyed this poem Huw.
Guilt can be seen as a curse - it can be seen as a gift. It gifts those transgressed against by denying a calm mind to the transgressors. Its not obvious right away that it has been given - many here in Ireland who committed atrocities have, years later, taken their own lives. Was it due to guilt? The families of those hurt and killed Im sure think it was. And yet some who are known to have done worse can sleep soundly. Guilt is a fickle judge with a selective memory.

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
