Oblivious

Oblivious

A Poem by Huw
"

Experienced while out walking this morning.

"

Oblivious.

I heard the steps behind me

could sense them getting closer

and then in passing he said,

''nice day isn't it''

Glorious I replied, nice weather too.

He paused or was it slowed

and gave half a turn then said,

‘‘It’s going to be nice all week''!

To which I replied, ''the week

is always nice''.

Hesitating somewhat his parting shot,

'' It’s a really nice walk this, nice and quiet!''.

I couldn't reply as my smile was far too wide for words.

Quite?

Couldn't he hear the symphony?

Being played by the wind through the trees?

Hadn't he heard the birds in competition?

To see who could sing the most and the loudest?

What about the sudden crack made by pigeon’s wings?

I thought all this and more as he rounded

a bend half a mile down the road....

.....oblivious.

What Jacob says is so very true; I can only add that the sounds of nature in all their glory enhance tenfold the beauty of one's surroundings.

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
