A Poem by Huw

I wondered what it would be like

to sit unseen in the recesses

of a creative mind.

To watch intents become thoughts,

thoughts become ideas, to watch the ideas take shape.

That would of course require omnipresence.

We being human can only be acquainted with and appreciate the results.

It's from the completed work we draw conclusions,

from what we see or read or hear.

Memory plays an important part

it allows us to relate to the manifestation of an artists intents,

thoughts and the completed idea.

Art without empathy is art for arts sake and does not convey anything worthwhile.
A true artist, like a prophet, is often unaware of the message behind the image or the words they project, but when presented with an interpretation they will recognise their own thoughts as if returning from afar.
Some have had the experience and are given both the understanding and the skill to faithfully portray what they have learned and in this others benefit.

Interesting concept. I've always found the idea of genuine inspiration really fascinating. Nice work.

I've been commenting on someone's drawings for a couple of months and she asked if I was a published poet. It made me laugh because I'd left school at 13 years old and never completed formal education.. more..
