A River

A River

A Poem by Hutch
"

I have always been drawn to a river. Always the river is on the move and going somewhere. So spiritually alive and dangerous.

"

A river is such a restless spirit

it never sits still and never feels sorry for itself

even when blocked it continues to wander and search

the river knows the dam is only temporary

for the call of the sea is far to strong

every ripple and waterfall has it's own unique voice

calling out with the wind, rain and wild creatures

a wild lonesome spiritual call that is like no other

as to say i'm going home and

you are welcome to follow

with every turn of the river brings another beautiful beholding

my appreciation and love for it has found no bounds

for just to be accepted here is the most awesome of ultimate rewards

and to think i owe my happiness to the quiet peaceful call of a river

It's all where the water is running off into a deeper or larger body of water. It is strange how we have so many rivers and yet sometimes there is no river but the water is still there underground being soaked up by roots. The ocean calls to me more than a river, but I'm sure if I did not remember that as a kid, I would feel much more drawn to the river, Maybe those are what keep our countries together.

Very good description for the river. I like how you described her and used her to make your points. I agree. River or sea. Best place to know peace and calm. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
