Morning PracitceA Story by ZaneI'm telling about my morning practice schedule.
Every Monday and Wednesday at 6:15 in the morning, I run
four miles with my friends who also happen to be my cross country teammates. We
meet up at the north end of the school outside of the weight room. Some of us
can drive but others carpool or walk. Even though the set arrival time is 6:15,
we don’t usually start right away because people like to sleep in and it delays
us.
We start out together as one group although some of the stragglers may fall behind because they’re out of shape. We only run to the tennis courts by Wilson Bridge Rd. and that's only four miles there and back and everyone on the team should be able to keep the pace but that's okay, it is what it is. The better runners, who usually consist of the captains, the varsity runners and the JV runners lead the run. We all talk on the run and try to enjoy it despite it being the morning but sometimes we become irritable towards each other. Everything usually turns out fine and we get back to the weight room a couple of minutes before 7:00 with no fights. I don't stop until i get my keys from the weight room so I can leave.
