The Bonfire Song

As I was looking at the night

the bonfire rose up high 

in a field greater than wide

It made a fiery roar 

and shook the cold 

warmth we felt through our bones

As it changed the way we perceive life

it showed us all how something can burn from just a spark

how something can burn in the coldest weather known 

A spark ignited in my own

made me feel like a newborn 

it made me long to the night

as we all started singing the bonfire song

we all sang it up with a roar

The bonfire now is gone

but left something behind 

it left a bonfire in my own

I love the title & yet the story you are telling isn't really reflected in the title alone . . . I love that part, about the bonfire song, but your story also takes a few twists & turns into other unexpected areas (I like it when a writer doesn't take a predictable path). I'm reminded of many bonfire evenings with heat on one side & chill on the other. I love the last stanza most . . . the bonfire within is most important in life.
