Chapter One: Math, Ronan, and Gavin.A Chapter by Regina.G
"Yes Missy?" Ms. Maller called on me.
"Oh. Um, how do you solve problem 2A?" My bangs drooped in my face, my brain flustered and my eyes carefully darting at Ronan. "Missy," she always had liked my name. That's why she always used it. "How about you come up on the board and try it?" Some students looked around in wonder, as if, "Why are you asking her if she had a question about it in the first place?" But I knew exactly why. Whenever you're under pressure, your brain functions a little bit faster. Shyly, I walked to the whiteboard. I felt eyes peering into my skin. I picked up a marker and uncapped it. I looked at the problem. 2x/3 + 154c if x=7 and c=30. My hand shivered. EEEEETT! The marker slipped and made a loud squeak on the whiteboard, worse than nails on a chalkboard. My face reddened. I slid my finger over the line, erasing it. I went back to the problem. I did it quickly, and shuffled to my seat with my head down. I looked at Nikki who say next to me. She gave me a sympathetic look and pulled out a piece of paper. She scrawled something down and passed it to me. "Hey. It's okay." I replied with a simple, "I know." I cringe under pressure. Some like limelight. I like...books. There's not a problem with that, but it's not Ronan's type. I looked over at him. He was joking with Matt. As always. Then the door swung open. Gavin?
