The Greatest and Best

The Greatest and Best

A Poem by Hugh Oliver

 Pay Homage to the old

Salute the new

Bid farewell to the night

And greet the day

Look at those that did

But watch out of those still yet to do

Place laurels, they are a standard set and made

Yet continue forward to the water's edge

Out from the shore,

into the distance...Into t

Never forget....

Heroes are still made

In every day and age

But remember this 'my boy' he said,

'The best is yet to come

The baton passed from one to one'
