The Fountain

The Fountain

A Poem by Hugh Oliver

We were the invincible,

We were the future,

We lived in the present and we had no past

We laughed, hard

Like the world was ending and the moment had to last

Time was whiled away

There was no fear and worries kept at bay

From the toss of a coin

We had no regrets from bad decisions, as all mistakes were those first made

We had no scars,

Our skin was clean, both porcelain pure and golden glow

It's promise, it's treasure

Felt like ours alone, solely owned forever

We were everybody's envy

We lived an infinite possibility of dreams

We were an eternal spring

To find us again start at the source

Seek out, discover, explore

Most-more, one has only but to dream in awe...
