Buttons

A Poem by L. Spencer

You know exactly what to do
Exactly what to say and how
To erupt my raw emotion
Giving you the power
To shoot me down

You know how to work my buttons
Make me fall
Twist my mind and watch me crawl
Your authority makes my body shiver
Repel and cringe

You say and
I react
You react and
I fall back.

When I was reading this I was reminded of the saying/quote "love is giving someone the power to break your heart but trusting them not to" (not sure who said it...)
You say just enough here for the reader to grasp the idea without going overboard...powerful - Really well written too.
Great work with this.

I think the pacing could have been used in a more creative manner, especially when the subject matter is so direct.

I love how clever you are in this poem. You show how this person manipulates you into performing all sorts of physical actions against your will. Very clever and amusing poem to me. Loved it!

This is the best thing I've read from you yet, Lindsey. This flows immaculately, and doesn't say too much or too little. You've come a long way.

Wow, angry frustrated and not too happy,
is what I get from this. Short but powerful.
