Fear

Fear

A Poem by Hemang Pushkar
"

A time when people spill blood over beliefs, I fear for my life. A time where you can't stand to see my faith, I fear for my loved ones. I fear preaching. I fear believing. I fear living.

"
You killed my sisters and brothers today
And said “it was in the name of the divine”
“For ‘a human’ in our culture has to abide by the law;
and is strictly prohibited to have pork and wine.”

You come in numbers and beat my father to death,
You felt he committed a crime.
But the meat he possessed was not beef at all,
At least you could have listened to him for some time

When I stand to support people of other religion,
You ink me and paint me black.
But when I argue in the name of humanity,
Then why are you taken aback?

I don’t care which religion you follow,
Or whichever culture you breathe,
It hardly matters which God you pray to,
Or whatever teachings you preach.

Forgive me Ram, Allah, O Christ,
For I fear for my loved ones and my life
The day I believe in any just one of you
I may not see another night.

I strive to live in freedom,
And everyone prays as per their will.
Where no one is threatened
By religion, culture and other evil.

The pain and suffering in the world done in the name of religion is sick. Killing innocent people who are minding their own business and worshipping the God of there choice. No matter what you call the diety you worship, they do not approve of the way you live your life in their name. Well spoken.

Me too my friend.
"I strive to live in freedom,
And everyone prays as per their will.
Where no one is threatened
By religion, culture and other evil."
I pray for days when the world rate a man or woman for their deeds. Not religion or race. One people and one earth. We must get along for the sake of the children. Thank you for sharing the powerful and worthwhile poetry.
