Autumn

Autumn

A Poem by Mavis

autumn overflows roads
like creeping refuse
refusing to be forgotten,
visually screaming back at the world
while being carried gently
to the ground
by a cool breeze;
a mistress that can only
grow colder as time ticks on.

Very powerful to me, I like the play on words of 'refuse, refusing, forgotten',
the harsh 'f' sounds. Short and (bitter)sweet.

I love it. Its great how you describe Autumn as some sort of attention seeking mistress. Its different and that's what makes me love it.
