This too shall pass.

This too shall pass.

A Poem by Relic

This too shall pass

Autumn fields with chestnuts strewn,
Resound October's chilly tune,
Spreading down through dirt and grain,
Touching roots of sugar cane.

Above, where mist and shadows flee,
Squirrels will gnaw at pumpkin seeds.
As ravens harvest bits of grass,
Securing nests before snow's pass.

But scarecrows do and will discern
A human's passing was its turn,
Much like seasons at their start;
Soon they age and then depart.

I talked to the spirit of Autumn and we came to a compromise. :) Thanks, Lorry.
This flies so naturally. As well as making pertinent and apropos points.

Thank you, Ken. :)
this beautiful ode to autumn has also a philosophical side. that change is the only constant means that pain will too taper off. i kept imagining someone going through a difficult time in their life taking a walk and watching the squirrels and ravens. they go home feeling a bit better; understanding their current hardships will eventually depart.

Thanks for your interpretation, Ern. :)
Autumn is a sensational season to embrace . .
It's beyond breathtaking
So beautiful

I'm drifting in these delicate moments while reading your words.

' mist and shadows flee, ' as ' squirrels gnaw at pumpkin seeds. '
I love this image. : )

Thanks for your comment, Brandy. I'm glad you liked it. :)
You have captured Autumn superbly in this wonderful sublime write, dear R. Visual detail is simply stunning and yes, human beings have seasons in their lives too, just as Mother Nature has gifted us with seasons in the calendar and like the seasons in nature, our seasons change too. They come and go and we eventually, if we live long enough, find ourselves in the Winter of our life. That is our final phase in this lifetime. Kudos well deserved, dear R! Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry with me this evening...

You have created a Turner landscape with these stanzas. Beautiful, vivid imagery of autumn sliding into winter. A wonderful composition. Quite lovely.
