Holy Water

Holy Water

A Poem by Relic

Do all poets
love rainy days?

Do they stand at windows
as though in church pews
peering out
at glossy streets,
at dripping leaves
trying to gleam any kind of wisdom
under gray filtered skies?

Do they worship in any way
what rain preaches?

Thank you, Robert. I appreciate the comment.
I love the rain! I love the scent of rain and its velvet touch on my skin. Think I must have been a duck in my last life. I never wear a covering on my head, or take an umbrella. I just love to get drowned wet and though I might look like a little rat, I never get sick or cold as a result of getting wet! I love your poem which captures a rainy day so perfectly and poetically and is complemented by some of the most beautiful photographs which show the effects of rain, magnificent colours brough to life vividly by the rain. Beautiful depiction within the poem also. Thank you for sharing, dear R...

I love rainy days especially at night time and its darkening up and the winds are cool on the skin.
My favorite time for rain and also the smell on raindrops on paved roads or cut grass. 😍😍

You're welcome! 😊
I love rainy days (except when i have a fresh blowout and the moisture ruins it)

I think the best part however is when it gets kinda windy and dark right before and you can just smell the rain coming

Yes, that's my favorite time as well. I love knowing there's a storm coming. :) Thank you, Moonie.
i do. there is something divine about rain or all of nature for that matter and it does have much to teach us. nice words and imagery you sprinkle on us.

Much appreciated, Pete. Thanks. :)
I'll answer that opening and closing line with an astounding YES! The rain is like a cup of soup for the soul, it revives all living things, including ourselves. We need days when the sun doesn't shine. When the earth can drink in every drop, leaving us to splash in its puddles, plentiful!

I'd love to take a seat on one of those benches.

haha, will do, although it's pretty muggy and hot out. :)
When it rains here it is rain on a mountain outside my window. It is the rain of ages and belief. So my answer to your last question is a definite yes. Perhaps not in the way you mean it however. This is superb writing.

Thanks very much, Ken. :)
I love rainy days. I love listening to the sound of the rain tap against the roof or ground. I love the sound of it hitting leaves. The way it glides down the glass and most of all I like the feel of it against my skin.

I loved the imagery in this poem and the way it makes the reader think about the rain.

I believe the answer to your question, is yes we do seem to really love rain. And it must say something different to each of us if the results are any indication. It is so fun to sit there and watch a good rain storm though, it really has a sort of mesmerizing effect.
