For All I Know...

For All I Know...

A Poem by Relic

~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~
I''ve said hello
To those I pass,
But none can do the same.
~
And though I know
We're a different class,
To each I cannot blame.
~
Perhaps today
I'll run into
A father and his son.
~
Before I stray,
I'll first imbue
"Good morning," just for fun.
~
You see, although
Each quiet folk
Declined the greet I gave,
~
For all I know,
They've always spoke
In whispers, from their grave.

Relic
I take a short-cut through a cemetery on the next block when I go to the store.
Sometimes I'll veer off past different plots.

It's a question I've never pondered. Do the dead converse from grave to grave? If they do, does some irascible soul occasionally snarl, "Speak up, d****t!"?

haha, I'm sure I've thought that a time or two as i walked through. Thanks John. :))
'For all I know,' yes, so true.

The physical body only has so long a span; the spirit remains, so I have no doubt those 'whispers' are for real.

Really liked this.

Beccy.

Thank you for the comment, Beccy. I believe you're right. :)
For most part, I thought may be someone is quiet or shy to return back a hello. Which does happen quite sometimes with me. But indeed, no one knows what stories the fallen folks hold in their hearts and graves. I read the poem again and could see the layers of thoughts here. Some undone deeds, forgotten hello, an unfulfilled desire, a longing memory, never know, what the dear heart holds beneath the earth. Took me on different plane of thoughts and loved reading this one. Very well done and beautifully written. Thanks Relic!

Human's have been around for long enough to have spread onto every continent, and live there long enough to plant their stories under the mountains, trees, and plains, but we never know their stories... Will anyone know ours?

I also visit old graveyards and spend time pondering on those who have departed. A sensitive write, that touches this reader. Nicely conveyed lines.

The dead cannot speak and yet, who knows....
I always find graveyards so fascinating and as in this beautiful poem, muse about what could be going on with them. To me they're just in another realm, perhaps, speaking in ways we cannot understand.
I loved this poem, Relic. It was so soothing....
