Insomnia
A Poem by
Relic
3:20 AM -
the same as
all the other nights.
Darkness and me -
we still have nothing
to say to each other.

A short direct poem about the battle to sleep. Well written. I get it.

Forgive my silliness but my sip of tonic water worked!

Perhaps that's the secret to happiness in life no one figured out. Tonic water! :)

The cold shoulder of sleep. What is it about 3AM. the body is weary but the soul longs to wander.

Well said. Thanks for the comment, Cherrie. :)
Yes! So succinctly put Relic.
Although I don't suffer from insomnia, I enjoy being awake when others aren't, although I don't think that would be the case if I still lived the city life.
Instead, it is where I find my calm, gazing outon a clear night to see those night lights in the sky twinkling, plus, it is the ideal way to read a book, without life's other distracting thoughts getting in the way.
In fact, it is now my measurement of time passing, how long it takes to finish just one more chapter.
But when you are in the city, with work, friends and family, it can feel like a thief of what little time you get to yourself, as well as the rest required to get through your next chapter.
I do hope you find your cure for insomnia. Late night telivision is usually worth a try. It always sends me to sleep anyway! 😊

Me too my friend. I love writing at 3am. No critics are awake. Good morning and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I appreciate the comment, J. Thanks.
I have been cursed with insomnia for years. The darkness and me aren’t good company. Fully understood this brevity Tim.
